SCHOOL VISION

At Leumeah High School our vision for High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is to create an inspiring learning environment where innovative teaching practices and cutting-edge technology come together to enhance the educational experiences of all learners. We are committed to providing a dynamic curriculum enriched with diverse electives that foster creativity, critical thinking, and real-world connections.

Through PLPs (Personalised Learning Pathways) and collaborative projects, we empower students to explore their passions and develop their unique talents. Our goal is to cultivate a community of lifelong learners who are equipped to navigate and contribute to an ever-changing world.

By embracing innovation and technology, we strive to engage our gifted students in meaningful ways, ensuring they are not only prepared for academic success but also poised to make a positive impact on society. Together, we will inspire the leaders of tomorrow.

ALIGN WITH HPGE POLICY

Leumeah High School's vision for HPGE not only complements the policy, it also embodies its core principles, focusing on innovation, personalisation and engagement to support gifted learners in several ways:

Innovative teaching practices and integration of technology create a stimulating learning environment.

Personalised Learning Pathways (PLPs) allow students to explore their interests and develop their talents.

Enrichment electives encourage a broad curriculum that fosters critical thinking and creativity, ensuring that gifted learners have access to a rich variety of learning opportunities.

Our goal to cultivate lifelong learners who can navigate and impact an ever-changing world clearly reflects the HPGE objective, preparing students not just for academic success but for active citizenship.

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

WHY HPGE MATTERS AT LEUMEAH HIGH SCHOOL?

It ensures that our gifted and high potential students receive the support and challenges they need to thrive. By implementing HPGE strategies, we create an environment where students can fully explore their abilities, interests, and passions.

HPGE is essential for fostering a culture of excellence, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and innovation. It cultivates a diverse learning community where all students, regardless of their abilities, can benefit from a rich and engaging curriculum that meets their unique learning needs.

This approach not only enhances individual student outcomes but also contributes to a dynamic school environment where collaboration, engagement, and a love of learning are encouraged.

In our classroom
Our school meets the needs of HPGE students through innovative teaching practices supported by a 1:1 iPad program, enabling differentiated tasks that extend pace, complexity and higher-order thinking. Digital tools are used to support formative assessment, inquiry-based projects and cross-curricular learning, while explicitly developing critical and creative thinking skills. Flexible grouping, leadership opportunities, strengths-based feedback and safe, supportive learning environments empower HPGE students to collaborate, take risks, reflect on their learning and achieve personal excellence across the four domains, intellectual, creative, physical, and social and emotional.
Across our school
