The library focuses on the development of information literacy by providing access to print and non-print resources. The library collection includes books which are relevant to all aspects of the school curriculum and thus provide additional resources to those found on the internet. Students may access computers to assist in the completion of assignments, homework and assessment tasks. The library also provides facilities for students to print their work both in black and white and colour. Library staff are always available to support students in finding resources as well as helping with their studies.
Within the library there are several learning spaces including interactive whiteboards and access to laptops and ipads, as well as tutorial rooms for small group activities.
The careers advisor has her office in the library and the senior study centre can be found on the top floor of the library.
The library is open for student use every recess and lunchtime. Students can access the library before school on several days each week - these are advised at the beginning of each school year. Students may also use the library between 2.10 and 3.00 each Tuesday. Classes are frequently booked into the library to utilise the resources.
To meet the 21st Century information needs of our school community, the library catalogue can be accessed via our online catalogue. Students can login to the student portal and they will then gain access to Oliver - the library operating system. Through this they are able to search the catalogue, reserve books and renew their loans.
Leumeah High School students are also able to access an extensive ebook collection available 24/7 all year round. Information can be found in the Leumeah High School Skoolbag app or from the library.
The library has a variety of themed displays throughout the year that reflect different events such as the Premier's Reading Challenge, Roald Dahl's Birthday, Valentine's Day with books that are relevant to the topic. Interactive workshops are held twice a week for students interested in artistry. The students works are exhibited in the themed display.
